Listening Our Way Forward

A few thoughts from Elissa Perry at Creating Space VIII in Baltimore, MD

“The cries of the oppressed are not always just, but if we do not listen, we may never know what justice is.” – Creating Space VII Participant

We’ve shared and we’ve listened and we’ve come to a place where this needs to make some sense.  Sense in our beings, sense in our communities, sense in the world.

Like community, being is a verb.  A being, like a community is also a verb.  It is a constant flow of energy, constant change.  Our parts, our cells—interdependent systems within themselves—are renewed continuously. And if we have been able to remain nimble and open, our intangibles have continued to change too, allowing us to have new thoughts, new joys, and new ways of doing things.

We must be careful in our making sense. It is when we think we know, when we think we’ve captured it, when we’re sure we have the answers, that we stop listening.
